McGrath Nicol Receivers and Managers were appointed to Great Southern. McGrath Nicol Receivers and Managers issued a notice that they were no longer using, in possession of, or occupying the leases of the Tiwi Island Forestry Project and forfeited property rights in relation to the leases and consequently stopped paying rent.

Once more, Tiwi decided to take over the plantations and manage them to harvest.

Tiwi Plantations Corporation, separate from the Tiwi Land Council, was established to manage the plantations on behalf of the Tiwi and was registered on 2 November 2009.
